Briefly

General Motors' dealer portal, GlobalConnect, required a refresh to make it visually on-brand.

Background

GlobalConnect, a SharePoint 2013 site, was built by an IT team without marketing or design consultation on branding. As a designer, newly added to the dealer support team, it was my responsibility to recommend changes to the site that would align it with General Motors' branding.

Process

After studying brand guidelines, and the GM retail website, I developed a proposal for changes. I presented the changes, explaining my rationale – dealers, as the GM dealer support team’s customers, should have a professional branded experience. When the recommended changes were understood and approved, I provided mockups and brand specifications to the front-end developers.

Tools

I created mockups in PhotoShop and presented my recommendations using PowerPoint.
